For decades I have been deeply interested in the essence of who we are and how we can bring out our best to serve the world.
The Five Wisdoms have been the vehicle to bring together my training in Buddhist dharma, psychology, meditation, (mindfulness and awareness), compassion, psychotherapy, leadership, mind/body disciplines, movement, and the arts.
Moreover, I have seen this work transform people’s lives, whether to give them greater awareness of themselves, bring out more emotional intelligence, make a breakthrough in their primary relationship, or see their energy in a work situation. I delight in watching them become a more authentic person.
My first book, The Five Wisdom Energies (in 10 languages) was published in 2002, at which time I founded the Five Wisdoms Institute. In 2006, we launched Wisdoms@Work, our signature training, to mentor and coach participants in their personal development in order to genuinely serve others. Natural Brilliance, my second book, came out in 2012.
My primary influences have been my root Buddhist teacher Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche, Naropa University’s Contemplative Psychotherapy/Buddhist Psychology MA, Naropa’s Authentic Leadership Certificate, Khenpo Tsultrim Gyamtso Rinpoche, and life. For over three decades I have been a senior teacher in Shambhala International. On graduating from The Juilliard School in New York City, my first career was as a dancer, choreographer, and teacher. This led me to being director of dance and dance therapy at Naropa in the 1980’s.
