Five Wisdoms
Trainer and Coach Training

Training Director: Irini Rockwell

Five Wisdoms Trainer Training is for those interested in developing five wisdoms trainings under the supervision of Irini Rockwell. Anyone with extensive background in the five wisdoms practice and teachings may apply. It is also applicable to those who are already Five Wisdoms Teachers who want to deepen their understanding and expand their skills. This training provides instruction in the many aspects of presenting the five wisdoms. It is an opportunity to explore how we can fully communicate what we have learned and what we have realized. We will work with a wide range of topics, such as:

  • cultivating leadership qualities
  • working with the teaching environment, the container
  • unifying understanding and experience in preparing training content and format
  • preparing talks using fourfold and threefold logic
  • giving talks, leading a discussion and answering questions on five wisdoms topics
  • designing and facilitating experiential exploration
  • leading a process group
  • obstacles and antidotes to teaching (e.g. how to work with fear of teaching)

Each participant will have the opportunity to give short talks, field questions on their talks, and discuss their presentations with the other participants. They will lead groups in various experiential explorations. Participants are required to staff some of the eight Five Wisdoms @ Work modules as an assistant. The training consists of three weekends.

Five Wisdoms Coach Training is learning to coach from the perspective of the five wisdoms and contemplative approaches to working with others. A coaching relationship is where the coach and client collaborate to increase the client’s ability to work with situations in their life and work. The coach is helpful in creating an environment of unconditional positive regard and appreciation of who the client is. This allows the best of the person to come out. It also creates a ground of trust in working with the more challenging aspects of who they are. The coach supports their innate abilities to move toward what is best for them. A significant role of a coach is to help an individual become aware of how to independently define and sustain what they want so that they bring new ways of being, thinking and acting into their life and work.

Coaching enhances one’s abilities to...

  • see where someone performs their best and how they limit themselves
  • see a current situation more clearly
  • have insights about how to manage their life more productively
  • see new possibilities for generating deeper meaning and fulfillment in their life
  • connect with their priorities, purpose, and deeply held principles and values
  • take more informed, better, and smarter decisions and actions based on their personal definition of what it means to live and work

Coaching is an integral part of the Five Wisdoms Trainer and Coach Training and is a required component to complete the full training. The training consists of two weekends with an emphasis on experiencing the modality.

Coaching Certification is available for those interested. There are two possible ways to do this: in the Authentic Leadership Coaching Certificate training through Naropa University or studying the tele-course tapes by Fred Kofman. Both programs train in the competencies needed for coaching and go through key concepts in communication. After completion of one of these, one would qualify to apply for certification from the International Coaching Federation. It requires 100 hours supervised work. At this point there is no licensing for coaching but it is expected to happen at some point.

Dates and fees to be announced
